I loved the 2104, never had an issue other than a bad weld on the chute that was replaced right after i bought it. It really handled everything i needed. But A buddy just got a Hydro unit and i was using it and loved the way it worked.
Then bathe all parts in Gumout carb cleaner. Spray out the carb body, all micro ports, etc. Make sure the carb float still works (sit it in a bowl, make sure it floats). Replace the carb gasket if there is one. Usually, with fuel issues like this, taking apart the carb, then putting it all back together works wonders.
The rapid Track 28 looks very intriguing, but is more $$ than the pro, and am unsure how this new hybrid track system will perform compared to the Honda. The second is the auto- turn feature of the Ariens vs. the trigger clutches of the Honda; not sure if the Ariens works well or not given the mixed reviews but the ability to manually and fully disengage a track (or wheel) and then manually and fully lock it again seems more positive to me.
The SHO will throw a hair further, and will be able to go a bit faster through the really deep stuff. The 30 will give you a bit wider cutting width and will go though the normal 6-12" snow just as fast. Personally I would go with the 28 SHO since it will be a bit easier to store and maneuver. 28" is a nice size. Ariens Platinum 30.

I think the rapidtrack system sounds great. There are two 28 inch wide units in the Ariens line. 28 width works better than 30 for me because of my garage storage. I think either the Rapidtrack SHO or Pro versions would have the power that I need. My question is about the benefit of the Hydrostatic transmission.

the ariens pro is 12.5 real hp. honda makes up for the smaller engine with very high impeller speeds and a tighter drum so it still throws 50 plus feet. the 270 cc has much lower torq which what is needed for deep wet snow in order to not lug down. myself id get the pro for $2200 and put an impeller kit on it and let it eat.

The older Ariens track models with 2 idler wheels per track have a track tension adjustment of 9.6mm of deflection between the drive wheel and the rear idler wheel. The RapidTrak does not have any adjustment explanation that I can see from the Owner manual or the Service manual.
